TAPA APAC Office Opens in Singapore!

After months of anticipation, TAPA APAC has finally moved into the first ever office in Singapore, at Paya Lebar Quarter, on 1st December 2022. The new office marks the beginning of TAPA APAC’s decision to run the association on a full corporate structure and is also part of the change in strategic direction from the Board.

This fully-functional office will support full operations of the team and host meetings with members and associate partners. The office is fully-equipped with proper systems and compliant tools to support TAPA APAC members and activities. Devices and equipment have been upgraded to better assist the team in their daily activities for the members.

All TAPA APAC members are welcome to visit the office. The office is open from Mondays to Fridays, 9am to 6pm (GMT+8). It is recommended to arrange a visit with the TAPA APAC team to ensure a smooth and pleasant visit.

The establishment of the new office is one of TAPA APAC’s commitment to enhancing the value for members moving forward. TAPA APAC will continue to invest in quality resources and structural upgrades across training, memberships, certifications and marketing. Members will see a significant change in membership services and activities to help support their business functional needs.

The office features an external open-space area for open discussions and an enclosed TAPA-only room with digital key access. The TAPA APAC team will actively administer the office space and ensure all documents and devices are kept secured.

The TAPA APAC Board congratulate Flipkart on this incredible journey since 2017 to certify to TAPA FSR A its 75 fulfillment centers.  The TAPA FSR certification is an internationally recognized industry standard that is given to companies who meet the requirements for secure warehousing or in-transit storage of high value goods across the global supply chain. Renewed every three years, the TAPA certification is only awarded upon rigorous audit processes. It is highly sought after and is regarded as one of the most stringent independent security standards in the logistics and supply chain sectors.

There is an increasing number of manufacturers who are using the TAPA Facility Security Requirements for its warehousing and manufacturing sites. The standards provide a benchmark of risk, resilience, and security across the supply chain.

TAPA operates several Supply Chain Resilience Standards, such as the FSR (Facility Security Requirement), the TSR (Truck & Multi-Model) Security Standards, GSR (Guarding Security Standards) and more recently, the CSS (Cyber Security Standards) with a strong focus on the cyber-attacks on the supply chain.

TAPA APAC’s Supply Chain Security Standards allow companies to select their preferred level of FSR, TSR, GSR and CSS certification to suit their security requirements and those of their customers. Certification is achieved by working with our approved Independent Audit Bodies (IABs) or via Self-Certification.

The EU and China have agreed to increase cooperation in supply chain disruptions in addition to bilateral trade and investment. Speaking at the 9^th EU-China High-level Economic and Trade Dialogue (HED), the two sides discussed global economic challenges, disruptions to the supply chain caused by Covid and the impact of Russia’s invasion on Ukraine.

“The EU and China are key trading partners,” said Executive Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis. “The importance of our economies comes with a responsibility to shape joint responses to global economic and trade challenges, such as disruptions in supply chains, global food insecurity, debt relief for the most vulnerable countries and reform of the World Trade Organization.

Entrust, a big name in digital security, announced recently on its website that it has been attacked by hackers. During this attack, hackers breached their firewalls and stole data from their internal systems through breaches in their network. It is an online trust and identity management company specializing in the deployment and management of online trust and identity, offering a variety of security services such as:- Encrypted communications, Secure digital payments, ID issuance solutions etc.

Consequently, based on the nature of this incident and the services offered, it is obvious that the effect of this attack would be felt by a large number of critical organizations. While the attack has been speculated to have been carried out by a well-known ransomware gang in order to extort money from the company. The exact nature of the encryption that was used during the attack or even whether the devices were encrypted or not is unclear at this time.
